A watered down superhero

Just came from watching DC:s latest superhero movie Aquaman. In a sense, they have finally reached Marvel in a visual sense, but it's still quite a hollow story. Nothing new or surprising. Even though I hoped at a couple of instances that they would get me off guard.

It wasn't a bad movie either. If you don't expect too much from it. As I said, it was a visually great looking movie. If you like such over the top effects. But at least underwater scenes offered something new. That is if you don't count what was done in the Star Wars already a decade ago.

One thing that has always annoyed me in these superhero movies was also strongly present on this one. They so hard try to pay attention to details and try to make sense out of things. At the same time, other things are so out of touch with reality ( and I'm not referring to sci-fi elements here) that it just makes me angry. I shouldn't think too much watching these type of films and just enjoy the absurdly of them.

And last, but not least. I really enjoyed the subtle things that you can spot throughout the film. Like the Dunwich Horror at the coffee table towards the beginning of the film.
