I know I could just enjoy all those shows I watch as is. They are just entertainment, a means to pass the time (or waste it). If only I'd leave it there.
I just want to know more. What is beyond that which is shown on the screen. The vast world behind the stories. Some of them is written, available out there. Most of the time it's the showrunners that had to extend the works to make it span enough episodes.
It doesn't stop there in the internal fantasy of the creation. I'm as interested in the backgrounds of the work. How did it came to be? What's it based on? Who wrote it originally?
...and what inspired it. There is a whole network of prior work something is based on. It's always based on something. There are always those references to something older. It's just another rabbit hole.
Then, when I know everything it's time to come back to the beginning. What is the true meaning of all this?
