I try to keep my privacy as much as possible in today's surveillance economy. Often it comes at the price of giving up some comfort or services and sometimes the benefits do overcome the price to give a little bit about myself in return.
Due to all the actions I have taken to ensure my privacy I don't see much ads. There are only few places there is room for them, because it would be too inconvenient to block all of them and it would just be too much to give up using the service.
It gives me some level of trust that all that effort has not been in vain. Those ads that I see are either completely random and irrelevant to me or in those rare cases I need to resort giving away some information reflecting that back to me for weeks.
If I for example want to buy something I like to investigate my options thoroughly. That naturally requires me to expose what I'm looking for. At the time the ads catch up with my interest it's already too late. I have made my choice and purchase already. But the ads keep showing great deals for weeks.
