Back to the gym

I finally managed to get myself back to the gym yesterday. While I have gained some weight and lost muscle I was surprised I still managed to do a proper workout. I didn't let myself off easy, pit on as much weight as I felt barely comfortable. So I expected to have pretty sore muscles today.

Turns out you don't lose muscle that fast. At least when you still make sure to do at least some activity every day. And that's exactly what I have been doing. After being away from gym for one and a half year I'm still in adequate shape.

So I didn't get sore muscles. Instead I've suffered from an annoying neck pain today. I'm not sure if it's related to the sudden strain to the whole body or just something else. Might also be due the second night I didn't sleep too well.

I would have expected a better night after staying awake for the best part of the previous night combined with the physical exhaustion from the workout. I did indeed fall asleep pretty fast, even by my standards. But around two in the morning I found myself laying awake. Took a while to get back to sleep and then I did sleep surprisingly long. But when I finally woke up I didn't feel well rested and there were this pain as well.
