Broken arrow

Bow might be the single biggest investment when starting archery, but in the long run it's the arrows that end up costing the most. They are the consumable part of the hobby and while the single arrow might not cost much, you need to have a bunch of them.

So far I have been lucky with my arrows. The first set, the cheap wooden one has lost a tip from two arrows (out of six), but I haven't actually broke any of those. Sure I haven't shot with them after I got the better quality carbon fiber set. That set too hasn't suffered any damage... until today!

Today I managed to break not only one but two of those arrows! It even happened in the same six shot round. One moment I had six arrows and suddenly I was down to four. Both arrows fractured from the aft after they hit the metal frame of the target.

I can only blame myself. I was getting too greedy pushing my limits. I was trying to get as far as possible from the target while still hitting it consistently. Moving back one meter after each round of six hit on the target the last one should have been the one where I barely got every arrow inside the circle. But I had to take one more step back. And then I missed those two. Not just miss! That's usually not s problem. I still miss all the time. There is plenty of room behind the target to collect the arrows. It's only s problem when you barely miss. There are those deadly (to the arrows) frames just outside the target.
