End of summer

August is coming to an end and with it, the summer. Tomorrow it will already be September, the month of the autumn (literally in Finnish: syyskuu means autumn month).

Sure there will still be some warm days (hopefully), but the days are getting longer and the overall weather it getting colder overall. Despite the unusually hot summer the warmth doesn't carry over too long around here.

This also marks the beginning of the final third of the year. There is only 4 months left of this year. Still plenty of time, yet the next year feels already so close.

But the autumn is not all bad. For me it feels like a new beginning. More so than the break of the year. It's also the time when I feel most energetic after getting all that sunlight and rest during the summertime.

The nature is also beautiful around this time of the year: all the autumn colours before all the leaves fall down. It might also be the darkest time of the year but in the darkness it's easier to see all the stars in the sky. Sometimes you can even see the northern lights around here.
