Deceiving memories

We went to see The apartment again yesterday. Had to have another look before making the offer and see if everything were like we remembered. There were also some things we missed the first time that only came to the mind later.

Overall everything looked exactly like I remembered but not quite the same anyway. It's funny how the memory works. I had the concepts correct, like the room layout, but there were some details missing from the images in my memory. Something I just didn't focus on on the first time. It was good to have this opportunity to fill in the gaps.

The missing things isn't anything unusual. There is just so much to see that it's easy to miss those less important things on such a short visit after all. I'm sure there are still plenty of things I missed this second time. I just hope now allt he things that matter has been seen.

Another thing that I had wrong in my mind was the scale and proportions of the rooms. Some of the rooms were bigger than I remembered, some smaller. Also in my mind the place was a bit darker overall. But I think that's true with all the places in my memories.

I'm just glad we don't have to do this in a hurry. Having to make the decision on the spot realising how much you might have missed just sounds too scary for doing something this big of a decision.
