Fixated on the details

I had pretty clear picture of our new kitchen in my mind before we started seeing those kitchen designers and show kitchens they had on display at the stores. Seeing all those I still mostly kept my mind on the initial design. Especially after those professionals didn't see anything wrong with my plans. Except one thing: the underlights for the countertop.

At some point I was considering the drawer lights but dismissed is as a gimmick. They are unnecessary complex and expensive compared to the benefit they provide. But a simple strip between the countertop and the drawer... much more straight forward solution which I also believe works better than those drawer lights. And on top of that they look really nice. Once I saw them I had to get them.

The problem is the current favourite offering has a bit of a challenge accomodating such lights. The default cabinet housing doesn't leave enough room for the light strip and the other model, which have the gap designed exactly for such is three and a half centimeters wider which would cause some unexpected issues with other parts of the design.

The only reason I'm still considering that particular provider is the designer who promised to look for alternative solutions to solve this problem and either make room for the lights in the current housing or resolve the other issues the other housing model has with the upper cabinets.
