Another year passes by

As of yesterday I have now completed 44 full trips around the sun. That's a bit over 41 billion kilometers travelled. Yet I'm once again right where I started.

Well, not exactly. Taking into account also the speed our whole galaxy travels through the space I have come nearly 320 billion kilometers away from my birth place. That's quite the distance.

We can count our age, or any other period of time by years which relate to Earth's travel around the sun, or the rotations of Earth itself around it's axis as days (16072). The weeks are also easily derived from those while they don't really have any astronomical meaning.

We can also count the months we have lived. But there it gets a bit more disconnected. We divide years into 12 months but that doesn't really correspond to the actual times the moon orbits around us. There are roughtly 12 and 1/3 months in a year. So if I put my age in months it's not 528, but 544.
