Now that I got to taste yhe joy of building LEGO sets again I don't want to leave thst to just this one. I just haven't decided yet what do I want next.
What drew me to the DeLorean set was the nostalgia. Of course the whole LEGO thing is pure nostalgia for me, but doubled it's even better.
I think the current "the set" must be the 7000+ set Millenium Falcon. There is also no shortage of other big Star Wars themed sets. But that's really no my thing. Sure those huge sets would be cool to build, but I'm not that into the franchise and I want the set to give me a bit more than that. Same goes with most of the other big franchise sets like Marvel or Harry Potter.
There are also many sets based on real cars. For some reason I've always liked the LEGO cars. While I liked the pirates, castle and space sets when I was a kid I ended up collecting car models which back then were among the biggest sets. While models like Bugatti Chiron would be nice those too didn't inspire me that much at the moment.
So back to the old movies, and cars on them. There are plenty of options for the Batmobile for example. The 1989 model isn't bad while not my favourite. The tumbler is probably the biggest of them, but still doesn't excite me that much. Too bad the -66 version is a rather small set, but could be interesting. And of course there is the latest iteration of the iconic vehicle which I would very much like to build.
After a long search I finally found my next favourite set: Ecto-1, the car from the Ghostbusters. Another favourite movie from my childhood. While the model is strictly based on the latest Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie it still seems they went true to the original car from the first movie. Even more so than the first sequel.
