The One Ring

I couldn't fully hide my disappointment when I opened the box. Or not disappointment, a confusion perhaps. Something I couldn't fully grasp at the moment. It was the one thing I wanted the most. But it wasn't exactly the ring I wanted.

You see, I had this idea of a perfect ring in my mind. Made from the unusual materials, with a special method. The one that would have an interesting story. I like stories. Having something to tell about the things that are important to me.

But then I realised it wouldn't have been that extraordinary story, not the unique one that it would have held. It could have been a story of anyone ring. And there would have been similar ones.

This ring however has a story of its own. A story that is ours, and ours alone. There isn't none like it. Even if the exact same things would have happened to somebody else we wouldn't have been part of that story.

It truly is The One Ring. There is no other ring in the whole world I would like to wear more than this. And even more so as if I would have received the one I wanted I would never have realized this.
