Investing happiness

To be happy now or later, that's the question. It's so easy to gain a little bit of happiness immediately with zero effort. But the price for that might be a lot more later.

On the other hand, happiness is living in the moment. Enjoying your life as it happens. No matter how much you have invested in the future none of it matters if you are unable to enjoy it. All you are left is the bitter feelings of what could have been.

But these two views aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. If you can find happiness from making the future you also feeling happy that would be the perfect situation. It's hard to forget the coming happiness and rather enjoy the immediate rewards.

What if, for example you can both feel happiness from completing the task now and enjoy the fact that you don't have to worry about it anymore later on. And then you can again enjoy the happy moment when you realize you already did the task and you can relax instead of doing that task then.

It's hard, but it can work. It just needs a bit of a change in perspective to start thinking a bit ahead.
