Plan it forward

I usually work at the office on Fridays. I was planning to do so also yesterday. But knowing that I would have to spend the whole weekend in highly social setting, and knowing how draining that would be for me I instead decided to work at home. That way I had most of the day just for myself. No social obligations or interactions. The fact, that I had plans on working on a project with a colleague who would have been remote anyway also helped on this decision.

Now, after just half a day I can also feel the effects. Usually I would be already looking for some self time after all the socializing. But instead, I find myself here at my room, trying to get this written as fast as possible so I could return back among others. It's nice to still have some energy left instead of just trying to cope with the exhaustion until the end. Waiting for the moment I can leave all this behind and spend some self-time again.

I should definitely try to remember to do this more often when I know something like this is coming up. It makes the experience so much more enjoyable.
