I arrived here at Amsterdam yesterday and the first impression has been nice. There is water everywhere surrounded by beautiful old buildings.
The city really loves bikes. You can see them everywhere, people strolling by with their bikes. It's almost harder to get around by foot as everything seems to be build around biking. Another thing I noticed is that there are a lot of electric cars, scooters and other means of transportation going around.
People are nice and welcoming. Perhaps even a bit too much for an introvert like me. But regardless, it's nice to feel welcomed.
Another distinctive feature of the city is it's smell. A smell not unlike that of a cat piss. It's especially apparent during the evening and around certain areas.
Unfortunately, as usual with these work related trips, I don't have too much time to go around the city and enjoy it more. Maybe this is another city I need to add to my list of cities to visit someday with a better time. At least I can take a moment and enjoy it by walking to the venue instead of relying on the public transportation. It's not that far after all for a nice little walk.
