There are pictures, windows to a different worlds. Paintings describing a moment frozen in time. The details are exact, unchanging. There is no room for doubt.
But what lies beyond the frames? There os a whole world out there beyond what we see. There are stories, a whole history leading to that particular moment. A future unknown, as real as it's past.
We see a same picture. But our minds are already working. Expanding the picture, showing us what lies out there, out of our reach. All the possibilities, the could be's.
The wishfulness of such pictures gets too often forgotten. We see just the picture, not all that is contained within, hidden. It's just colours and shapes. Shapes we recognize, things we can understand. That's easy. But it takes effort to see more. It requires time to get bored. Fascinated with that image. Letting yourself being consumed by it. Letting it start telling you it's story.
A single picture can tell stories. Stories that would be trapped if put into words. The story needs to be free. Everyone can bring their own.
