Customer service

Many things can be taken care of these days without any human interaction. You can order things online and they will be delivered to your doorstep without seeing a single person. You can also make a booking on various things and unlock or check-in virtually using mobile apps. It's a dream come true for somebody who doesn't like random encounters. Or is it?

Sometimes things go wrong, or you just need something not on the list. Maybe a small modification to your order or booking. It's usually almost impossible to handle such situations on the app or website. At best there might be char or email where you are supposed to get in touch with a real human. Those usually fall sort as well.

Doing business with real humans aren't always great either, even if you are fond of such human interaction. But lately I've found doing business with actual humans to be a pleasant experience almost every time I've had to resort to it. Maybe the remaining businesses sticking to the real customer service are forced to invest in good service. It's the only competitive advantage they still have against their digital counterparts.
