Why don't companies want my money

I have been trying to find a streaming- or online rental service that would have the Lord of the Rings trilogy extended editions available. I could even buy a digital version of them if available. But it seems no company offers those on their catalogs that are available here in Finland.

I own the original extended edition DVD boxes. The problem is I don't have a DVD player anymore. Haven't got one for years. Sure I could get one just dor the sale of watching those movies, but another benefit of having the digital versions is that they are also available as a remastered 4k versions. Would be nice to enjoy the movies utilizing full capability of our glorious TV screen.

Only option seems to be going an illegal route, piracy or faking my location through VPN. Is that what those companies want. Another way they are shooting themselves in the foot besides having so scattered catalogues that they have defeated the original strength of offering convenient and low cost legal alternative to piracy.

Disclaimer: I do not in any way encourage piracy, even on talk like a pirate day. Arr!
