Brand new and outdated

Today I had to drive a substitute var while our new car was at the repair shop. No, there is nothing wrong with it, it's just getting it's windshield replaced. I noticed a small crack at the windshield back when I was test driving it and requested it to be repaired before making the deal. The dealer agreed and told me I could either get the car in a few days and bring it back when the new windshield arrives or wait a couple of weeks. Of course I couldn't wait, even with this little hassle of getting the car back there and having a substitute for a couple of days.

The car I got as a substitute isn't bad. It's a brand new Suzuki with top level trim. Yet, it still feels like driving a car from a decade in the past. I really had to think of when was the last time I owned a car which felt the same. I had to go 3-4 cars back where it falls somewhere between those cars. I would have imagined even a modest car would have had some more progress during these years.

Of course this car might have a bit different audience. Not everyone wants to drive the car of the future. Some people like it when things don't change too much. But me, I would take any of those past three cars over it, even of they too start to be a bit outdated and old compared to my latest one.
