Quality of life improvements

Small things can make a bog difference. Even though some things can be small annoyances we tend to get uses to them and don't think much of them after we have accepted them as the norm.

The challenge is to identify auch things. There is almost always ways to fix or improve those things. Afterwards it makes me wonder how did I even tolerate those things before.

My latest "fix" was rhw slow close toilet seat. It was something I left out from my original "slow close everything" quest after we moved to our new home. I vent through everything else to ensure there was that nice satisfying silence closing everything. But I also don't want to replace something just for the sake of it. I want to think of the sustainability as well and it would have been a waste to replace a completely functioning seat.

Some time ago the seat hinge however starting to become loose from it's fastening leading to the state when sometimes it wouldn't close properly anymore. I saw my chance and took it. Replacing the seat with the smoothly closing version came a bit more expensive than getting a standard one, but after just this short time I've had it I can tell it was worth the money.

Did it change my life? Not so much, but I still find satisfaction from such small things.
