Most urgent things first

First day of a new week. Lots of things waiting to be done. Once again I started the day not with writing, but getting a couple of more urgent things done first so I can fully focus on this.

It's definitely harder to start writing if it's not the first thing. After I got the urgent matters dealt with I was already looking what to do next so that I wouldn't have to start writing. I really had to drag me writing instead so it wouldn't end up being the last thing I need to do for the day.

Intriguing opportunities

Just as i have gotten one project mostly out of the way there has been a couple of new projects available already. I seriously considered those for a moment. But luckily I finally came to my senses and declined them.

I think I still have enough to do for the next couple of months. And then, a small break wouldn't hurt. After that, I could seriously start considering to undertake any new projects. And even then, I need to remember not to take too many of those at the same time. Of course, if something really interesting comes up I know I'm probably unable to say no after all.

Stop right there!

Close those other tabs, turn of Slack, don't open the mail and put away your phone. Go get another cup of coffee and then we start.

Got your coffee? Good, now open the "write new post" - page and start writing!

There is the voice in my head telling me every morning I should write. It's telling me I could check those mails later, there shouldn't be anything urgent I would need to do before starting. But those are just suggestions and as such can be disregarded. So every time I find myself procrastinating with work.
