Annoyingly safe

Our flight was delayed for over an hour due some check light going off during the pre-flight checks. And it wasn't even anything vital, just some trivial secondary system.

Sure, it was annoying just waiting there on a runaway while the technicians went through the systems trying to figure out what was wrong. But on the other hand it was assuring. It's a good thing all those security protocols are being followed and the plane won't leave the ground even if there is only one minor error light turning on.

So we just sat there, waiting for the takeoff. Others weren't that patient. There were unsatisfied mumbling about incompetence and all. Don't these people complaining about such things realize it's for their safety. The flight staff is just doing their job keeping us all safe.

For me it was a good sign. Giving more trust to the system that things are taken seriously. Flying is one of the safest form of transportation, mainly because of these exact protocols. Everything needs to be in order before the plane can leave the ground.  It's extremely hard to fix anything in the air. Better be absolutely sure everything is in order before taking off.
