New focus, part 2

After giving it some more thought, and reading some guides about improving one's writing skills I have managed to come up with some new focuses for my constant quest to make my writing better.

First, i need to get rid of those horrible long and complex sentences. I know i don't use them that often. But sometimes things can get out of the hand.

I should also pay more attention to the point of view of my text. Make it more consistent. Of course, there are topics that are more suitable to be written in either 1st or 2nd person. But I should stay away from passive voice altogether. Even if it wouldn't be considered wrong, I don't think there are that many uses for it in my writings.

Then there those sweet, fulfilling filler words. They can sometimes be the much-needed aid to reach the dreaded 200 words limit when the text doesn't otherwise feel to flow too easily. 200 words should be more like a constraint where I need to be sparse with words instead of trying to reach it with whatever useless adverbs I manage to squeeze in.

That's quite a lot to consider. But keeping them in mind while writing will hopefully take me to the next level as a writer.
