On the road towards automation

After owning and driving a car with advanced driver assistance technologies I'm becoming worried about the implications getting accustomed to such technologies. They make driving so easy that driving without them feels too difficult.

For example there is the active LCAS system that keeps the car between the lines, automatically steering gently away from them when the car gets close enough. It's not perfect:for example there are some wide-lane roads here, where the system doesn't work due to the lines being too far apart. It feels like I need to pay extra focus to keep the car straight. Even if I have decades of driving experience and doing exactly that, now it doesn't feel that easy anymore

All those assistive technologies are great. They make driving easier,m effortless and safer as well. When they work. But while we learn to rely on them, they are not perfect. They don't work in all the situations and they still require driver to be in control. Or at least ready to take control at all times.

There is the period of time ahead of us when we have learnes to rely on all the technology meant to make our life easier, while it's not ready to take full control.
