Just when I wrote about the thrill of doing those technical investigations and how I miss them today I got more than enough of it. It's been a while I had to work 12 hours straight (at least when I had a choice).
Yes, it's fun for a while. But this is not what I was after. Granted these situations are rare and besides, I didn't have to do all of it. But how could I have abandoned the team, slacking off while others were still working on solving the issue.
Yes there are good things and there are not so good things in every job. I can't avoid them all without giving up with the other. At least I have the opportunity to have the goods and the bads from couple of different areas.
It's good to get these reminders every now and then. They make you appreciate the good parts and even the boring average moments. I'm still not giving up from the technical side, but it's not that bad if I can't do it all the time.
