Book by the covers

Kindle (and other ereaders as well) is a great device for avid readers like myself. It's ergonomic, lightweight way to read. No need to worry about packing those heavy books with you wherever you go. There is also majority of books ever written at your fingertips. As long as you remember to keep it charged. Reading is effortless, you just pick it up and continue straight from where you left.

But there are perks with the traditional books too. The feel of the paper under you fingers, the smell of ink and the weight of a book can give you different feelings. It's more unique experience when you can feel the physical difference between the books. With digital versions it's all the same: plastic and pixels.

One of the most notable difference is the cover. When you skip right to the page you were at you never see the cover. Not even the first time as the clever device opens it for you at the first actual page so you can start reading right away. You might have seen the cover in the store as a small thumbnail and that's it. You miss the art, the name of the book written in large letters and who wrote it.

Focusing just on the text, the content of the book is fine. But compared to when you see the cover every time, for me it's from time to time hard to even remember the name of the book I'm reading, not to mention the author.
