First fifteen pages of Harry August

Rarely the first few pages have made such an impression than  The first fifteen lives of Harry August by Catherine Webb (written under the pseudonym Claire North). It usually takes several chapters to get into the book but reading this book had me sold after just a few pages.

The books premises is pretty intriguing. Harry is a kalachakra, a person who is born over and over again. The story is an interesting twist on the time traveling theme along with a deep philosophical take on the free will. The concept is a refreshing take on a genre where it feels all the possible variations have already been explored.

Athough the setting is a variation of my favourite theme it's not the only reason I love this book. How Harry and his life (lives) is being told would be enough to read the book if it would have been about a regular single life. The added sci-fi and philosophical elements are just an added bonus.
