Deep learning

In machine learning one of the hottest topics recent has been deep learning. While the computer learns in this method with multiple levels of neural networks it's quite far from how we as humans learn.

There are different levels in our learning as well. Sometimes we just pick up random trivia or light topics. Other times we might need to study a bit more when we encounter a problem we can't yet solve with our current knowledge.  Or we want to do something new and need to start from the basics.

Less often we need to dive deeper into the topic. But when we do, we really need to practice the deep learning. Not completely unlike with machines do using recursive neural networks trying to distil the information from vast amount of data. We also need to go through a lot of information to understand the topic and all the related relevant concepts. The key difference here being the understanding. We are not that efficient forming new statistical models from the data that we consume as the machines so we need to achieve a different kind of understanding of the things. A mental model that we can comprehend.

The understanding is what sets us apart from the machines. No matter how complex and flawless outputs they can provide, can they truly understand it like we do.
