Back to the gym

I finally managed to get myself back to the gym yesterday. While I have gained some weight and lost muscle I was surprised I still managed to do a proper workout. I didn't let myself off easy, pit on as much weight as I felt barely comfortable. So I expected to have pretty sore muscles today.

Turns out you don't lose muscle that fast. At least when you still make sure to do at least some activity every day. And that's exactly what I have been doing. After being away from gym for one and a half year I'm still in adequate shape.

Standing activity

Since I got my home office fully equipped and been working remote for there 100 percent of the time I have been standing a lot more than before. Now I don't spend 2 or 3 days sitting on a couch anymore.

The adjustable standing desk is great. I can stand, sit on a saddle chair or a regular one altering between different postures. I try to stand as much as possible, but it gets surprisingly heavy on the feet after a while. Especially when not having anything cushioning the soles. When I get tires I sit down for a while on the saddle. It's still better than outright sitting.

Christmas gains

Among other things, Christmas is a time of gluttony. All the festive food and delicates that belong to the traditions. And all that chocolate.

No wonder so many people promise to start working out at the break of the year. Need to get rid of that all excess weight accumulated during the holidays.

It's all temporary after all. Gym's remain crowded only during the first half of January. Week of gluttony and two of fitness. But if done properly, that should be enough to maintain the balance. That is, if there was balance to return in the first place.
