Perils of autocorrection

Quite soon after starting to write I realized I'm in a dire need of spelling correction. I was writing quite poorly, both due to simply spelling some words outright wrong due not being a native speaker and because I mostly wrote on mobile, without proper keyboard or anything. Sure there was Androids own autocorrect, but more often than not, it was doing more harm than good. Writing in two languages can be challenging for those kind of things.

After a brief evaluation I ended up using Grammarly. It not only fixes those spelling mistakes, but there is also some machine intelligence behind it so it can also understand if the word is somewhat correct given the context. On top of that it can also fix most common grammatical errors.

The problem is, I have become too dependent on it. I find myself doing probably more spelling mistakes than before. Writing in a hurry I just assume all the mistakes are fixed automatically and correctly, so I don't even think about it anymore. But the thing is, I actually only use it to write these posts and nothing else (mostly due some privacy concerns, but more on that maybe on another post). So all my other communications are still dependent on my own judgement when it comes to writing properly while I'm accustomed not to worry about such things.
