writing

Disclaimer

I wrote a lot about different things like I'm some sort of expert of those things. While I like to think I know a lot of those things there are people that are actual subject matter experts of those things. I'm just somebody curious about those things who also wants to understand and share the knowledge.

I might think that I understand those things, but I don't let myself go easily. The things I'm interested in aren't the most simple ones. So there is always the possibility that I have misunderstood something.

47 hours and 59 minutes

Writing every day means in theory I could still spend close to two full days between two posts. That would however require to only count the publishing times, or writing really fast, 30 seconds per post.

I know I can write a post in five minutes, although not very good. A proper post takes at minimum 10 minutes so lets use that. The writing time itself should also be counted, not just the publishing time. So this way the gap is down to 47 hours and 40 minutes.

Serial writer

Writing connected posts is interesting change. I usually write just some random things that happen to come to my mind at that moment. But occasionally I have had some repeating topics I have stayed for a while like the banana episode for example.

Then there has been a few topics so big and deep that just one post couldn't have fit all of it or wouldn't have made it clear enough. A good example of this was the recent Graham's number post I made that required a series of preliminary posts to explain enough of the background for it to make any sense.

Too many posts

I do am happy how many posts I have written. I'm proud I have been doing this for so long already. But having over a thousand posts makes it hard to find that particular one I wrote so long ago about this particular topic or that.

It would be nice to refer to those old posts. Whether it's in some discussion or just a new post touching the same subject. But going through all those posts is already impossible. Even the tags don't help as I haven't always been using those.

More, or less, it's the same

When I started writing I set a limit of 1600 to my posts. It was fine having a lot shorter posts, but the 1600 characters was the hard limit. No more than that, period.

Then came 200wad. Like the name suggested, it was about writing 200 words a day, minimum. So I adapted, decided to push myself to write over that limit every day.

A while ago that limit was removed during the rebranding of the platform. The new Cowriters didn't have any word or character limits. First time in my writing endeavour I didn't have any technically enforced limits for my writing.

226 days

Finally, the day is here! The day that I have been anxiously waiting for the past couple of weeks. Now I van relax again for a while.

I have a love / hate relationship with the milestones. Beforehand I get anxious about them, but when I do reach them I can appreciate them. It always feels great to accomplish something. But hey don't mean the end, just a brief moment to stop and look back on may way to even higher milestones.

Autocorrect me his

Autocorrect features have some flaws that I have come more and more annoyed over the years writing on mobile small screen devices, especially once it became practically impossible to find any decent devices with physical keys. With the touchscreen keyboard an autocorrect feature has become a necessity. It requires great effort and slows me down formidably if I just try to hit the correct keys.

One of these days again

For some reason I haven't felt like writing today. Quite the opposite. Haven't had these for a while now. Especially after I started writing in the morning again.

Maybe I'm just too tired. We did stay up quite late last night. But I did sleep well. The whole night actually. First time in a while I didn't wake up in the middle of the night. And didn't wake up early in the morning either. Slept until nine, which might not sound that late, but it surely is for me.
